This study about the National
Park of Carthage and of Sidi Bou Saïd is the result of
a mission of « preliminary assistance » requested
by the Tunisian Government to UNESCO World Heritage Committee.
It falls within the C.N.R. Strategic Project ST/74 dealing
with « Environmental Protection. Natural Parks and Protected
Areas ». In this way Tunisia has the opportunity to
make known the civilization of its own country through the
valorisation of its incredible archaeological and historical
heritage. Therefore, the Park means to become an important
environmental, cultural and leisure pole, promoting at the
same time cultural tourism, thus strengthening the dynamics
of economic development .
