Son Altesse Royale le Prince Moulay Rachid En l’espace de deux éditions, le Festival International du Film de Marrakech a poursuivi son ambition d’exigence et d’ouverture sur le monde jusqu’à devenir l’un des rendez-vous cinématographiques les plus attendus et les plus porteurs d’espoir au niveau régional et dans le monde. Daniel Toscan du Plantier aura œuvré pleinement à l’obtention de ce succès. La Fondation du Festival International du Film de Marrakech a tenu à rendre un hommage spécial à cet homme qui a marqué l’histoire du cinéma et qui aura compris et porté le sens de l’événement. Cette année, grâce à des choix éditoriaux rigoureux et réfléchis, le Festival s’apprête à accueillir une programmation spécifiquement ancrée dans sa ville, avec des films venus du monde entier et des cinématographies du sud, qui confirment d’ailleurs l’exceptionnelle vigueur des productions actuelles. Marrakech alliera sa magie à celle du cinéma et sera pendant ces quelques jours le carrefour privilégié d’échanges et de découverte pour les professionnels du cinéma et le public, qui pourront assister à des dizaines de projections en plein air et dans les salles, des débats et rencontres, ainsi que des tables rondes sur le financement des films et les tournages étrangers au Maroc. We at the Marrakech International Film Festival Foundation insist on paying a special tribute to this major figure of the film world, a man who understood and conveyed the importance of this event. This years, after much debate and thoughtful reflection, the Festival has selected a programme particularly rooted in Marrakech. In what appears to confirm the exceptionally healthy state of current productions, the films come to us from all over the world and from the movie-making cultures of the South. Marrakech blends its own magic in that of the silver screen, and for a few days becomes an arena of exchange and discovery for cinema professionals and the public as they enjoy dozens of indoor and outdoor screenings, debates, meeting, and panel discussion on film financing and foreign shoots in Morocco.
